Who we are
Cooper Murphy Limited (company number 08498548), registered office 139-143 Union Street, Oldham, England, OL1 1TE, is the data controller. ICO registration: application pending – registration number not yet issued. Contact: enquiries@coopermurphy.co.uk.
What we collect
When you make an enquiry: your name, company name, email address, phone number, the service you're interested in and any optional details you choose to provide. We ask you not to submit sensitive financial information through the website.
Why and on what basis
- To respond to your enquiry and take steps at your request before entering into a contract.
- Our legitimate interests in operating and securing our website and preventing spam.
- Where you ask us to introduce you to a third party (such as a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner or lender), we will only share your details with your agreement.
How long we keep your data
- Website enquiries: we keep personal data from an ordinary website enquiry for 24 months after our last meaningful contact with you (for example, our last substantive email or conversation about your enquiry). After that period it is reviewed and deleted or anonymised.
- If you become a client: your enquiry forms part of our client records and is kept for the period set out in the terms of our engagement with you, rather than the 24-month enquiry period.
- Legal and regulatory requirements: we may keep some information for longer where the law or a regulator requires it, or where it is needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. We keep only what is needed for that purpose.
Deletion at the end of the retention period is carried out through a periodic review by authorised staff rather than automatically. You can ask us to delete your enquiry sooner by emailing enquiries@coopermurphy.co.uk, subject to any legal requirement to retain it.
Who we share data with
Our website hosting and database providers, acting as processors, and our email notification service provider, which processes enquiry details solely to deliver notification emails to our staff. We do not sell personal data.
International transfers
If any of our service providers process personal data outside the UK, we will ensure appropriate safeguards are in place as required by UK GDPR. We are verifying the processing locations of our providers and will update this notice once confirmed.
Cookies
This website does not use analytics or tracking cookies. If this changes, we will update this notice and, where required, ask for your consent first.
Your rights
You have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing of your data, and to data portability. We respond to data rights requests within one month; in some cases the law allows this to be extended by up to two further months for complex or numerous requests, and we may need to verify your identity first. You may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Security
Enquiries are stored in a secured database accessible only to authorised staff.
